Those hunting for a friendly place to stay in Herefordshire should do rather well at Midway Holiday Park – as the name suggests, it's right in the thick of the action, close to several National Trust properties as well as Hereford, with its historic Gothic-era cathedral. The scenic family-run site is just outside of rural Aymestrey, where there's a riverside pub within walking distance. It's a great pick for couples and family holidays, with lots of green open space. The on-site (family-run) café has both indoor and outdoor eating, with the latter overlooking the private gardens and fields. As for practical matters, the site also has a toilet and shower block, and there's electric hook-up and hardstanding for parking. There’s plenty to keep everyone entertained here, that's for certain. As a dog-friendly site, any owners visiting with their well-behaved furry companion will be pleased that there are walks a short distance away. As for those wanting to visit the nearby National Trust locations, they include Croft Castle and Parkland (five minutes' drive) and Berrington Hall (15 minutes' drive).

喜欢: A one night stop, to break up our journey. A flat field with electric points.

不喜欢: Toilets and showers were not clean! They need to be modernised along with the dish washing area. Will not be back, until facilities completely refurbished.

喜欢: Great little find. Fantastic location and great for walking. Cafe was a great place to sit and eat breakfast. Friendly and very helpful owners.Would recommend and we will definitely return soon.

喜欢: The team who run this site were great, and the cafe did a great full English breakfast for us. We moved after the first night to a better spot as it’s was pretty muddy where we were originally. It was pretty bad rain the week before we arrived, and the owners did call us on the morning to check in with us.

不喜欢: There are only 2 showers (1 for men’s, 1 for women’s) although we never had to wait to use them. Not a dislike for this site at all, but I would love to see more sites in the UK with EV chargers 🤞🏻

喜欢: This being our first trip in our tourer, we couldn’t have picked a better destination. Nice family run site , friendly and approachable people . Nice cafe on site ran by the family , mega breakfast . The site was clean with plenty of walking for our dog . I would highly recommend Midway caravan site for a quiet getaway .

不喜欢: Cafe visitors parking next to overnighters. No grey water drain for motorhome. Not easy to get to public footpaths - had to walk along busy road

喜欢: Arrived late but this was no problem for the owner. Showed us where the shower was as we’d been cycling all day. Liked how each pitch had a small light and the breakfast was very good.

If you love nosing around old houses and gardens, head to the fortified Tudor manor house and maze at Hampton Court Castle (25 minutes), or National Trust-owned properties nearby including Berrington Hall (20 minutes, 18th-century rooms) or Croft Castle and Parkland (10 minutes, medieval castle). Meanwhile, to sort some more active time, try out clay pigeon shooting (10 minutes), get on the banks at Docklow Pools (25 minutes) to fish for carp, or take a few practice shots on the driving range at Leominster Golf Club (20 minutes). For family days, take the kids go-karting (15 minutes) or let them burn off energy on rope courses at Oaker Wood Leisure (10 minutes). Are you all animal mad? Spend a happy afternoon cuddling donkeys and goats at the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (20 minutes).
