Grab the dog (if you've got one – no need to acquire one specially) and head to Cresslands Touring Park in South Lincolnshire for woodland walks and lazy days near the River Glen. A good base for exploring the surroundings and enjoying a bit of outdoor time, the park is five minutes from a peaceful woodland, for long walks and spotting wildlife (including the kingfishers which live along this stretch of the glen). Guests can also head to the nearby river for walks, or take bikes out onto quiet countryside lanes. Not got a mutt? The site's also welcoming to cats, rabbits… even kids. Whoever's in your party, head to the opposite riverbank for a popular walking spot leading to the nature reserve along the Macmillan Way, a long-distance footpath linking Boston in Lincolnshire to Abbotsbury in Dorset. After all that fresh air you won’t have to venture far for a drink and a bite to eat – Waterside Garden Centre is 500 metres away with a restaurant, and there are a few pubs around a mile away if you fancy some pub grub. Cresslands is four miles south of Bourne, which has a greater selection of eateries, and the historic town of Stamford, with its attractions such as the famed Burghley House and Park and open-air theatre, is about a 25-minute drive. Bathroom facilities on site include two showers, two toilets and two wash basins with instant hot water and nifty extras including shaver ports and hand dryers. Two washing-up sinks and a washing machine are also available.

喜欢: The owner was really helpful nothing seemed too much trouble. The facilities where really nice. There is a nice walk along the river and/or to the nearest village.

喜欢: Well laid out site with spacious hardstanding with water and drainage.lovely facilities, washing machine with even a settee to sit and wait.Restaurant very close by.

喜欢: What a great little site. Owner David was very welcoming. Large gravel fully serviced pitch with hedge screens for privacy. Shower and toilet were very clean and all other facilities were available where needed. Would definitely recommend and stay again although only 15 miles from home for us.

不喜欢: Not a dislike as such but as others have commented this site is right next to the A15 so if you are a light sleeper the road noise may be a consideration.

喜欢: Peace and quiet. Large pitches. Hedges between pitches. Facilities- no added costs eg showers. Large site perfect for dog walks. Dogs come free. Access easy. Very friendly and helpful proprietor. Interested to learn that over 450 species of moth have been spotted on site. Excellent value for money. Some convenient public footpaths from site or thereabouts, although a little overgrown in places.

喜欢: The owner was welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The sit was well laid out big pitches divided by hedges giving you personal space brilliant. All facilities were well maintained and very clean. Very reasonable in price per night. In a perfect position for touring being on the A15. Would happily return and recommend. The site is very sympathetic to nature.

Go wandering in Bourne Woods, a peaceful and ancient woodland around five minutes away by car, or give your legs a real workout by linking up with the Macmillan Way for 290 miles of footpath crossing the Lincolnshire Fens. Visit Burghley House and Park, a 16th-century country house near Stamford (25 minutes by car), built for Elizabeth I's lucky Lord High Treasurer Lord Burghley. Sights to see include the Great Hall with hammer beam roof, collections of 17th-century Italian paintings, the gorgeous Heaven Room painted by Verrio, and the gardens packed with sculptures, flowers and plants. While in Stamford, pay visits to All Saints Church and the Stamford Arts Centre, home to art galleries and the tourist info centre. You might also stroll around the Stamford meadows for birdwatching or a picnic on the banks of the Welland. Another option in town is All Saints Brewery, for guided tours of the microbrewery and tastings of its specialised fruit beers. For folk seeking a slice of city life, Peterborough is a 25-minute drive away.
