Luxury glamping on an Essex farm, close to fishing, woodland walks, peaceful bike rides and the city of Colchester – and all within an hour by train from London. Make for Teybrook Orchard for a countryside weekend with the kids, a loved-up weekend with the other half, or to settle down in rural surroundings around a campfire with a few friends. Teybrook Orchard is a family-run glamping site on a farm near the village of Great Tey, between an apple orchard and 20 acres of woodland, with loads of space to roam. It's about 10 minutes by car from here to Colchester Zoo. Glamping units are scattered around the site, with plenty of room and privacy for all. Each unit comes with a private firepit/barbecue, table, chairs, crockery and cutlery; all are furnished with bedding provided. The well-maintained communal facilities include a games room with table tennis and table football, and bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers.

If you drive past the business centre on your right hand side, the entrance to the site is approximately 150 metres further on, on the left hand side of the road. There's a large wooden sign marking the entrance: Teybrook Orchard.

The 250+ rare species and menagerie of native animals of Colchester Zoo are about a 10-minute drive away. Just next door is Colchester itself, the famed old city with Roman wall, Beth Chatto Gardens, Colchester Castle and the Castle Museum with its extensive exhibit on Roman Colchester. For outdoor days, Ardleigh Reservoir has scenic walks or cycle rides around its perimeter, as well as fishing and sailing on the water, and the Gosfield Lake Resort leisure park 20 minutes’ drive away has fishing, waterskiing and banana boating. Family attractions nearby include the East Anglian Railway Museum, Colchester Leisure World and the Go Bananas play centre. The seaside resorts of Frinton-on-Sea and Clacton-on-Sea are about 40 minutes away.
