Craving long walks across the undulating South Downs National Park? Use Pepperscombe Farm as your base and you can walk to your heart’s content and also admire spectacular views across the park from your peaceful pitch, surrounded by the sounds of wildlife and bird song. Your accommodation here is in Busker, a vintage horse box cleverly converted with lots of up-cycled materials, including cupboards and storage space made out of old pallets and a fallen beech tree. This cosy affair sleeps up to four guests with a proper king-size bed and a sofa that doubles as another bed; inside there’s all you need for simple camping meals in the kitchen (hob, kettle, toaster, fridge), a compact dining table and plenty of storage under the bed. All is kept nice and toasty warm thanks to the woodburning stove, and there are plenty of charging points for your devices. You also have exclusive access to a separate shower and compost toilet. When you’re admiring those special views across the South Downs from your decking, it may feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere… but actually you’re only 15 minutes’ walk from pretty, half-timbered Steyning, its shops, pubs and restaurants.
