Cornish beaches, busy towns and a scenic fishing village with a great story… You get it all at Mousehole Camping, a family site in the village of Paul, five minutes’ drive from Mousehole and 15 minutes from Penzance. Mousehole Camping is a prime spot to base yourself for some exploration of Cornwall: in nearby Penzance, you can pick up the South West Coast Path and the St Ives Bay Line, bringing the dog along so the two of you can call into some of the dog-friendly pubs along the route. Make your way into Mousehole and down to the harbour to laze on the beach or do as the locals do and fish… then wander the cobbled streets, nose around galleries and local shops, and eat at the fishy-focused restaurants. Back on site, Mousehole Camping is in the grounds of a local football club, where matches can occur at short notice (the site tries to minimise the disruption but bear this in mind). Guests get free entry to the football matches, where a clubhouse bar is open on match days. The facilities (a couple of minutes' walk from the main camping area) are shared with the football club and include toilets and one accessible shower and toilet cubicle. The accessible cubicle may be closed to campers on match days or for maintenance, but the other toilet is always available. There's also wifi (although it sometimes doesn't work). Barbecues are allowed: pick up supplies from the supermarkets in Penzance or fresh fish from the port in Newlyn, five minutes away. If you’d prefer a break from cooking, stroll to the village pub for some food and drinks, or try one of the restaurants within 15 minutes of the site. Please note that this site is run by volunteers. From mid-September until Easter, there are no permanent staff on site.

喜欢: Quiet location, flat hard standing pitches. We were told there's is a good pub within a ten minute walk but we didn't go

不喜欢: Poor access road, pitches a long distance from facilities, very limited facilities in a poor state of repair. TV reception also fluctuated and WiFi was quite poor on the pitch we were on (pitch one) with no mobile internet via either EE or Vodafone.

As you probably saw we have new facilities currently being built on site that are much closer and will be ready for the summer season if you did decide to return. Our WiFi although in some corners of the site can drop out, is free and fast and we did offer the option to you of moving pitches so you could have a better connection. We offer our free WiFi due to the lack of phone reception in the area. Kind regards Mousehole Camping

不喜欢: No wifi or toilets in immedite proximity of parking bay. Communal shower facility. Could have just parked in a long stay.

We appreciate the feedback, the toilets are only a short walk around the football pitch, less than 200metres away, but we do understand that is too far for everyone's liking, we do currently have siteworks underway which will see new facilities for the campsite. 喜欢: Location, and it was open in January. The women's shower room was adequate apart from location.

不喜欢: It was a long way to the facilities, though warned of this the weather meant that it was very inconvenient. The Men's shower was so bad that my very unfussy companion refused to use it, the first one ever. For these reasons we left after one night and wouldn't go back. And no cover over the awful washing up sinks meant you couldn't use them either! They just aren't bothered, it's not a proper campsite.

At £20 per night (inc electricity) in the low season, we think we are excellent value for money, especially when most other sites close. Our customer service is top notch, worth noting you were greeted on arrival , made aware of your pitch (as you had parked on the wrong one) and provided you the password to our free and fast wifi. You did not make us aware that there was problem with the Men's shower, and after inspection, it is fully functioning. There was a power cut on your first night so perhaps our hot water wasn't not available first thing in he morning to your partner. I think your comment of " they just aren't bothered, it's not a proper campsite" is totally unfair. The volunteers and staff who run the site try incredibly hard and maintain the cleanliness of facilities at all times, all the glowing reviews we have received seem to say that he majority love our site. Please note that the access road from Newlyn is narrow. To access the site, you will need to go over a small ramp, so this site is not recommended for motorhomes over seven metres. When arriving from Penzance, do not use the road via Mousehole village, as it is narrow and unsuitable for larger vehicles. Instead, take the B3315 (Chywoone Hill) from Newlyn, which is signposted Paul and Land’s End.

Fans of BBC costume drama Poldark will find plenty to keep them occupied around here, with many names and places to recognise: Godolphin House, the mines at Botallack and Levant, and Porthcurno beach (Nampara Cove) are all within half an hour of Mousehole Camping and all worth a visit. Of course, if your passions lie less in TV drama and more in the arts, you won’t be let down – catching a show at the Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre carved into the cliffs above Porthcurno, is an absolute must. You can’t very well make a trip to this part of Cornwall and not visit the most westerly point of mainland England… Land’s End is a 25-minute drive from Mousehole Camping. Be sure to get a photo with the famed sign, and stop for a Cornish cream tea before you leave. Anyone drawn to the ocean will have plenty to do too: the top-notch surfing beach at Sennen is 20 minutes away, boat trips out to the Scilly Isles leave Penzance regularly, and the stunning St Michael’s Mount is a short walk along a causeway or an even shorter boat journey from the coast.
