East Calder is calling – and how easily accessible it all is. The county's Linwater Caravan Park is within a five-mile drive of Edinburgh Airport (nip up for the weekend, perhaps?) and is next to the trunk roads of the M8 and M9 – thus making it straightforward to stop over here on your way to and fro north or south. But you'd also be well placed to stay a bit longer. Linwater's in a countryside location, right next to Almondell and Calderwood Country Park and the Union Canal (for tiptop towpath strolls) and is also a short drive from the Pentland Hills Regional Park. The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena is only a mile away. All at Linwater is ably run by Katie and Alaistair, who've added a toilet block including a disabled loo, showers, a dishwashing area, laundry facilities and waste disposal for tourers and motorhomes.

喜欢: It was for us completely perfect place. The shower/toilets were better than at home. ground flat and spacious, close to airport so low planes. lovely walk into the countryside. Chicken and rabbits running around. staff very helpful and the place was secure there is a barrier to get in and out, Very goid value for money and great for campers they had a block with dinnng room, kitchen and a Wi to play on. exceptionally clean.

不喜欢: Had to come home. There was absolutley nothing i disliked, tho some people might not lime the planes so low and nosiy. but loved it.

喜欢: The facilities are great. Showers always hot and clean. They close from 12-3 pm for cleaning. Drinking water tap available and the washing area is really good. Also laundry and drying available but you need to bring your own washing liquid.Close to park and ride (which is free) for tram to Edinburgh.

不喜欢: WiFi did not work as expected. I didn't have much signal.

喜欢: Peace and Tranquillity, even though there were some children on site it was quite quiet, also pets were well behaved. The shower block was absolutely spotless. The airport didn't bother us with the planes taking off, as we live near Newcastle Airport.

Linwater Caravan Park's locale means you're well set for both countryside and city days, or to break up a journey on your way north or south. Around the area, a mile away in a disused quarry is the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, with the biggest indoor climbing wall in the world (well worth tackling for the boasting rights gained for afterwards, one might suggest). The towpath walks of the Union Canal are nearby and the shows and exhibitions of the Royal Highland Showground are within four miles. You can also easily drive to the Kelpies, the biggest horsey structures on the planet, and to the Falkirk Wheel, the boat lift connecting the Union and the Forth and Clyde canals.
