This Snowdonia site is a beaut. And so say the generations who've returned to Riverside Camping near Caernarfon in Gywnedd season after season: you'd be hard pressed to pin down just the one reason why, but it'd probably have something to do with peaceful riverside pitches among lots of open space… And the friendly helpful team, and the many little additions like a wifi service, an undercover picnic area, a volleyball and badminton court, and a mini grass football pitch… yes, that's several reasons, but after all, this site is a beaut. Riverside Camping is in a sheltered loop of the River Seiont that's proved most suitable for fishing, birdwatching, boating and paddling, and is surrounded by woodland for yet more holiday adventures (short woodland dog walks are accessible on the site). The site's setting is splendid: a few minutes' drive from the mountains of Snowdonia, two miles from Caernarfon and less than six from the coast. Steely-blooded campers also use Riverside as a base for the Slateman Triathlon and Snowdon Race in Llanberis five miles away. Other thoughtful touches (there are many) are the playground; pocket-money toys (and sweets, drinks, ice cream and tourist info) in reception; a mini playhouse and a colouring table, and undercover table tennis and pool to partake of on rainy days. The hot showers on site are free and include family and disabled facilities. Riverside Camping also has an on-site bistro, The Mill, serving meals using local ingredients, light lunches, snacks, wine, local ales and Welsh breakfasts including laver bread. The nearest shop is about a mile away and plenty of pubs, takeaways and restaurants are at nearby Caernarfon.

喜欢: We have just come back from a 3 night stay at Riverside camping. When we first arrived the presentation of the gardens stood out, they are impressive and well maintained. Lovely greenery and flowers, very welcoming. We received emails prior to arriving of instructions of what to do which was helpful. We went straight to reception as asked and we met with Catherine, she was friendly and helpful. Catherine informed that they wasn’t that busy this week so if we wanted we could have a different pitch where we could see our children on the park, we took her up on this offer and it worked out great for our trip. Facilities nice and clean, due to it being quiet no issues with usage. Fresh flowers placed in the toilets which were a nice touch. We had a breakfast on site at the bistro that was lovely too. We went to a local quarry and a castle whilst away, all within a short driving distance. My husband and children had a go at fishing but did not catch, the weather was windy and very rainy at times. They spoke to some locals across the river who said they had a 13.5lb salmon this time last year. Children aged 11, 5 and 2, all had a great time and was sad to leave. Our dog also loved the trip, lots of walks for her. Wi-Fi was also great and no extra charge. Thank you for a great trip. We will return 😊

喜欢: Stunning park. Lovely peaceful location with lush greenery. A picturesque spot with nature all around and a river gushing in the background. Added bonus the Mill restaraunt with gorgeous food and lovely staff. Nowhere more beautiful if the sun is shining.

不喜欢: Toilets a showers could be cleaner, we went in low season but maybe in high season this is more of a priority for the site. We were dissapointed that this is the only site that we have stayed at and had to buy an electric card on top of the price of our pitch. We feel that for the price we paid for two nights stay the electricity should have been included in the £88 that the pitch had cost.

We are so sorry you did not find the cleaning to be up to our usual high standard, this is something we as a small team pride ourselves on during both low & high season . The very heavy rain on Saturday evening & into the night did make it harder to keep the floors spotless at all times due to wet grass being brought in from the field onto the floor in between the last clean at 10pm & early morning clean. Introducing electric meters is something we hoped we would never have to do, but as a small family business it is essential for survival & so that generations of campers can keep returning to their favourite site Your electric bill totalled 46p for the weekend which we feel is a fair price for the small amount you used. We look forwards to seeing you all again soon Catherine & The Riverside Team

喜欢: The grounds and facilities of were very accommodating. Would definitely stay again when the weather gets better. Access to toilets and shower a stones throw which was very convenient. Lovely lil shop and outdoor games. River is stunning.

不喜欢: Unfortunately we have to cut our stay 3days short due to the bad weather, was not able to get out & do anything.

There's simply stacks to do around here as well as Snowdonia mountains walks and climbs, like the beaches and coastline of the (also beaut) Isle of Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula, nature spotting, getting active on land or water, or investigating centuries' worth of Welsh history at nearby castles, museums and mines. The best known attraction of ancient and royal Caernarfon, a couple of miles from Riverside Camping, is ancient and strapping Caernarfon Castle, but you should/must also make time for its old and lovely pubs or for crabbing from the harbour walls; wherever you end up in this scenic city, take many photos. North Wales is steam railway country, so if you don't fancy getting to Snowdon's summit (Copa'r Wyddfa) under your own steam, take the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the peak instead from its base at Llanberis. Alternatively, the Welsh Highland Railway puffs the 25 miles from Caernarfon to Porthmadog; you should make many pub pitstops along the way.
