What’s life like on a sheep farm? Pretty splendid, if Hafod Fawr Farm is anything to go by. On the edge of Snowdonia National Park and less than 10 minutes’ drive from both Lake Bala and the little Gywnedd village of Llanderfel, the accommodation at this peaceful family-run farm is in a smart modern two-bedroom caravan (there’s just the one on site, so you’ll have plenty of space to yourselves…) Inside the caravan is a fully-equipped kitchen (with fridge-freezer, gas hob, microwave, oven and dishwasher) and a living room with TV and electric fire. To keep things nice and cosy, there’s gas central heating and double glazing throughout, and bed linen and towels are provided to make packing for your break much easier. As for the outside, well, you’re free to chill in your own private garden as you please. It’s in a quiet corner of the farm, with gorgeous views over the mountains, and for extra measure, there’s an enclosed deck area. The whole thing is fenced off with a lockable gate to make it safe for kids to play, an added bonus. When you fancy some action, a little further afield are plenty of quiet paths to wander on nearby, watersports and golf at Bala and heaps of outdoors activities around the national park. At the end of an action-packed day, you may like to retreat to the local pub, which is just over a mile away.

不喜欢: The only problem was the road going up to caravan which was bad but that’s what expect as it’s on a working farm and also there was No wifi

喜欢: This is the nicest static I've ever seen. Everything was provided, bed linen, towels and even tea and coffe. The best but but was the bath. We absolutely loved it. Dylis, our host was really nice, we will deffo go again. No WiFi but you are in the middle of nowhere and who doesn't have data these days.

Whether you’re a big fan of everything water-based or someone who prefers dry land and stunning landscapes, don’t worry about missing out on either from Hafod Fawr Farm. Ways to busy yourself at Bala Lake (10 minutes’ drive) include sailing and watersports (and the Bala Lake Railway Heritage Centre, 20 minutes’ drive, on dry land for those interested in locomotives and old tools). More excitement isn’t far off either, what with the footpaths around Betws-y-Coed (40 minutes), the underground trampoline park at Bounce Below (45 minutes) and the zipwires at Zip World Fforest adventure park (40 minutes) being so easy to get to. If mountain biking trails are rather your thing instead, there’s Coed y Brenin Forest Park (35 minutes) for that… or the National White Water Centre (15 minutes) will soon get you canyoning or rafting. You may wonder if you’ve stumbled upon an Italian seaside village at Portmeirion (50 minutes) and that’ll be because of all the Italianate architecture. So, grab an ice cream, go on a walk and enjoy the views.
