Camping Les Quatre Saisons

Lots of guests use this site as a base for walking and bike-based jaunts in the local area – the surrounds are criss-crossed with quiet roads and trails, and the long-distance GR 4 trail passes by for those with something longer in mind (although it can also be used for a more approachable six-kilometre journey to Bourganeuf). If you want a pal for the trail (one that’ll carry your bags too), have a chat with site staff to help you hire a donkey to trot alongside. Finding yourself in Borganeuf (10 minutes’ drive) is a good thing – stroll around the medieval centre to see the three towers of the old castle and take a relaxed drink or two at the cafés (bonus points if you get here for the market on a Wednesday). Aubusson (35 minutes), famed for its tapestries and turreted houses, is another place that’s good for a wander. For other days out, steer yourselves to Vélo-Rail de La Mine (15 minutes), The Wolves of Chabrières animal park (35 minutes) or the watersports, lake beach and high ropes course at Lac de Vassivière (35 minutes).
