Pornic and Nantes, water and sands… take your pick from a pleasantly wide range of options near and on the Loire-Atlantique's Camping Les Chênes Verts, among green scenery, open space and plenty of room to roam. The highlight of this relaxed family-run site is its big waterpark, with several heated pools, a waterslide and a paddling pool – all lined with sun loungers if you prefer to bask under the sun while keeping an eye on the kids. And if you want to hit the beach, the nearest is a short drive away and the sands of the Jade Coast are tiptop for sunbathing, swimming, crabbing, fishing and watersports. For town and city days, Pornic is 10 minutes away and Nantes within half an hour's drive. On site, small sorts can be kept busy by the lively kids' club for ages four to 12, running every morning from Mondays to Fridays in July and August, or at the multisports complex, ping pong table, games room, play area, bouncy castle and a full set of nine pétanque courts. Events and organised activities run in summer too, covering everything from aqua gym and zumba to weightlifting and excursions by foot or mountain bike. Food is easily arranged here too, with a snack bar and takeaway as well as a bread order service in July and August.

喜欢: Good service in the reception, with tips for must see's. They were able to accommodate our wish for a another spot with shadow.

不喜欢: Not any soap, hand-alkohol, or toilet paper . Toilets were often dirty. We lived in tent, and we're missing a "barbecue-spot" with grill and possibility for a place to sit during the evening. A bit difficult to communicate in English with the staff. Not free wifi

喜欢: Gigi the inflatable giraffe and only 400m from the bolangerie. Super friendly and helpful staff.

不喜欢: You can hear the motorway traffic but we were so tired it quickly disappeared and we sleep well.

The beaches along the Jade Coast are just the spot for getting active in the water with some sailing, diving, yachting, windsurfing, kitesurfing and kayaking, or taking it easy sunbathing, paddling, crabbing and fishing. Recommended sea and sand options within a quick drive include the award-winning beach of Pré-Vincent, the oysters and fishing port of Port du Collet, and the fab old harbour town of Pornic, in the middle of the Côte de Jade. Around Pornic, take a boat to the excellent isle of Noirmoutier, home to spectacular beaches as well as 80 kilometeres of bike paths and over 60 kilometres of hiking trails. The Île de Yeu and Morbihan can also be reached from Pornic. Nantes is within day trip distance, as is the walled town of Guérande, the salt marsh museum of Batz-sur-Mer, and the nature spotting of the Brière Regional Natural Park, all within an hour's drive. An hour and a half away, have a spectacular day out at the famed historical theme park of Puy du Foy, and its many re-enactments including Viking raids and the Three Musketeers.
