'All you need is Camping Les Amiaux,' reckons its amiable team. As is very much the case if you're looking for a large and lively family park with activities, entertainment and facilities for all ages – and possibly also a big sandy beach 800 metres away through a pretty woodland path? Sorted, sorted and oh so sorted. There are 16 hectares of handsome grounds for you and the kids to let loose at here, set next to a pine forest close to the Vendée seaside town of Saint-Jean-de-Monts. Much more of the same is within easy reach, as the sands, cycle paths and overall splendidness of the island of Noirmoutier are a short drive to the north and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and Saint Gilles Croix de Vie are 25 minutes' south. You may, however, opt to plonk and put roots down on the sands of Saint-Jean-de-Monts: they stretch for a lush eight kilometres... There are excellent watery options to be had on site too, with a big waterpark and waterslides, a paddling pool with a roomy water playground for small splashers, an indoor heated pool for covered dips, and a sundeck for idle times after all that. Active sorts can plunge in for aqua aerobics or aqua zumba too, part of the busy activities and entertainment programme Mondays to Fridays in summer that includes a kids' club, archery sessions, sports competitions and evening karaoke, games and concerts. More? Read on... you can take yourself off to the fitness room, hire a bike to investigate the local trails, or bang a ball around at the table tennis tables, tennis and volleyball courts or multisports field. As you'll then need a break, wifi is available at reception, at the bar and in designated areas throughout the site. Camping Les Amiaux also has a restaurant, takeaway and well-stocked grocery shop – all you need, indeed...

喜欢: Pitch is fully serviced, private and close to amenities. The pools and shop are also just a short walk away. The beach is just far/near enough to make it pleasant outing. Made for a very enjoyable few days.

不喜欢: The on-site shop is typically expensive, especially if one likes a fresh croissant per family member every morning.

喜欢: Excellent pitch and facilities. Clean and tidy site with helpful staff. Easily accessible for our over 8m motorhome. Excellent access to the beach and fabulous pool facilities Very reasonably priced for a mid/end of august holiday. Children aged 8 and 14, felt safe enough to allow them to wonder. Excellent facilities, clean and level pitches. Friendly staff, well stocked shop with fresh bread and pastries every morning. A range of pools, clean and well staffed with a generous number of sunbeds. Local amenities close by. Would highly recommend

喜欢: La camping est top, de nombreux sanitaires (donc pas d’attente aux douches), les emplacements sont très grands et discrets (avec des haies pour délimiter), la piscine extérieur a été fort appréciée par nos enfants ainsi que la piscine intérieur. Le restaurant est top (personnel super agréable et énergique) et pas déçu de la soirée moules frites. Supérette sur place, très pratique. Localisation par rapport à la mer: top

喜欢: The position of the campsite , friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We were also with our friends and we had an amazing double pitch which gave us plenty of room.

喜欢: Great pools with slides, so much to go in the surrounding area. English speaking helpful staff.

不喜欢: Noisy! Whether it's the site or neighbouring site the music and entertainment is on till midnight. We asked for a quiet pitch and was put away from the bar etc but it was still loud.

喜欢: Very well appointed, large site on the between St Jean de Monts and Notre Dame de Monts. Pitches were roomy and well screened by hedges. Pools are great and much time spent in the slides. Dog friendly beach within walking distance which was a huge plus as they're hard to find in france

The top local sights as recommended by the team are the beach and resort of Saint-Jean-de-Monts, where eight kilometres of sand mean stacks of sunbathing space as well as plenty of room for fishing and watersports. If you're there in June, the bonfires are a must. Plenty of adventure and animal parks are close by, including Explora Parc within five minutes' drive, Atlantic Toboggan (15 minutes) and Youpla Land (20 minutes). Inland, it's 50 minutes' drive to Planete Sauvage, a safari and marine park covering more than 80 hectares and home to nearly 1,000 animals of 150 different species. Noirmoutier is accessible 25 minutes' drive away via the Passage du Gois.
