Well now. This Calabrian campsite lot knows what makes guests tick. And so they should: Camping Cammello Grigio has been open for over 30 years, sorting modern and comfy facilities among a rather lush natural and sea-based setting (the site is set over five hectares of dense vegetation leading straight to the beach of Roccelletta di Borgia). All manner of nifty additions are at this amiable family-friendly Catanzaro campsite: a beautician and a hairdresser for those who like their pampering; paddle boat and sailing boat hire for those who like to commandeer their own craft; a restaurant/pizzeria serving local meat and fish dishes and wood-fired oven pizzas; a bar open all day selling refreshments, snacks and ice-cream as well as drinks, and a grocery shop so you can pick up what you need for an evening on your way back from the beach. Plenty of sports opps are around too for those who like to expend a bit more energy: Cammello Grigio has two tennis courts, a five a side pitch with synthetic turf, and seaside activities like windsurfing, beach tennis and beach volleyball. Horse riding excursions as well as day trips to the likes of Baia di Copanello can also be arranged on site. Entertainment for all ages is organised by the Cammello Grigio events team.

Camping Cammello Grigio's location will also tick quite a few Calabrian sightseeing and activity options, as it's but a short stroll to the beach and has easy access to famed archaeological sites, cities of old and of nightlife, mountains, traditional towns and nature. A short distance from base in the site's local town is the archaeological site of Scolacium, the ancient Borgia seaside town with old Roman ruins. The Scolacium Archaeological Park is nearby in the town of Roccelletta di Borgia. You could also easily get to Cammello Grigio's closest city of Catanzaro, the capital of the county and home to the 60-hectare Mediterranean Biodiversity Park as well as one of the tallest bridges in Europe, a twelfth century cathedral and arty exhibits from ancient to contemporary at the MARCA Museo delle arti di Catanzaro. A day out among the hiking trails, nature and activities from horse riding to canyoning at the Sila National Park is another top option in the area; if you absolutely need more sand, you could check out the beaches of urban centres like Soverato, Caminia, Catanzaro Lido or Copanello.
