As Lombardy locations go, this one is a particularly splendid one, right on the shores of Lake Garda and a couple of kilometres from Moniga del Garda. Fab views are part of the offering here, but guests at Sivinos Camping Boutique don't have to limit themselves to gazing wistfully over the lake, as there's direct access to the water and a whopping five-kilometre stretch of beach. Guests who manage to drag themselves away from the scenery and swims should also find this site to be handily located too: a gentle half-hour lakeside stroll gets you to Moniga del Garda for plenty of shops and restaurants. For more of an urban day out, the city of Brescia is around a 45-minute drive away and Verona, Cremona and Venice are all within easy reach too. There’s a whole heap of activities to keep guests occupied around these parts, including watersports, horse riding, boat trips and bike rides. The region also is home to lots of scenic villages looking out onto the lake, as well as local wineries (tasting strongly encouraged). Foodwise, you can head to Sivinos Camping Boutique's pizzeria, rustle up your own grub (barbecues are permitted) or head out to Moniga del Garda to try some local fare. No need to leave base if you need to stock up on essentials: there's a handy food shop on site.

不喜欢: Shower cubicles a bit on the small side but not a major problem

喜欢: A friendly warm embrace awaits you. Site has a row of motorhome pitches lakeside, with 2 more lateral rows begin that... not more than 25yds from the beach. The rest of the site is an interesting collection of lodges and pods. Terrific facilities... but 1st class cafe, restaurant, bar. Wide menu from just £9.00 for a quality pizza. Desenzano 20 minutes away on the bus. Market day was Tuesday. Huge market! Do your homework coz there are 2 bus routes going to and from different stops in Moniga

不喜欢: Rommelig op de camping met los lopende honden, ook op het strand. Verder los staande auto’s bij caravans. Het vriendelijke personeel greep daarop niet in.

喜欢: The view of the lake, pitch was direct access to the lake. Toilets and showers very clean and reception staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful and friendly. Very quiet part of the lake compared to the other side if that’s what suits you

不喜欢: Pitches were on the small side as was the access road. Only one washing machine on site servicing a lot of people. Nearest town/ restaurant was a hike and all uphill, so electric bike or car etc needed especially if you want to see lake Garda.

Lake Garda is a marvellous sight, and where better to take in its splendid vistas than from the shores of a private island? Isola del Garda, open between March and October, can be reached only by boat (regular services leave 20 minutes' drive away from base). The crossing is scenic in itself, but once ashore there's an elegant neo-gothic villa to explore. If Isola del Garda's early 20th-century architecture inspires you, continue on to Vittoriale d’Italia (half an hour) and its Art Deco house and gardens. For a kid-pleasing jaunt, Gardaland (35 minutes) has a smashing theme park and aquarium. If you fancy keeping things classy (and why not – this site is called 'boutique' for a reason), there's a golf course 10 minutes away and Avanzi winery (10 minutes' drive) organises regular tastings and tours to see the wine barrels that are stored in old underground tunnels. Outside the immediate local area, swing by Sirmione, a town perched on a lakeside peninsula (don't miss the castle ramparts that extend out into the water). Beyond the lakes, Verona is 50 minutes away by road, and pleasant little Cremona is an hour. Venice is a little further afield at an hour and 45 minutes.
