What a topping Tarragona place is this – set among palms in a super seafront resort in the Mediterranean coastal town of Alcanar, a couple of hours from Barcelona. Family-friendly Camping Alfacs has been in the business for over 50 years and prides itself on its top-notch facilities including two playgrounds and an outdoor bar for morning brekkie. (Ping pong tables are on site too if you need to burn off excessive tipples.) A well-stocked shop with over 1,000 brands of local produce is also available. The site is 200 metres from a sports centre where Alfacs guests can use the facilities for free (there's a small charge for use of the saltwater swimming pool). The centre also has a cosy traditional restaurant open daily and serving Friday tapas as well as holding live music events during the summer. A variety of entertainment events are held on site throughout the year and include live music, fishing tournaments and carnival parties. Kids' activities are laid on in the summer hols. Bringing your pet? This welcoming site has dog showers.

喜欢: The whole place is having a face lift, the receptionist was lovely & very helpful, we had a stunning pitch right up to the seafront 🏖 the facilities were good too, clean showers & washing machines, no need to vring your own detergent & sorgtener as machine dispenses it 😊 it was fantastic we would thoroughly recommend staying here,may go back on way home!!!!

不喜欢: Nothing about the site although resteraunt was a bit pricey so we didn't eat there. But that's all really.

喜欢: Amazing seafront pitch, main areas done up really nicely. Lovely area in front of pool and restaurant

不喜欢: Toilets have no hand soap, dont understand why ? Also pool was closed which was a shame.

喜欢: The view from the motorhome looking over the sea. Clean toilet and shower facilities. On site shop. English speaking. Restaurant looked nice but we didn’t have time to use.

不喜欢: The dusty floor outside the motorhome. Not sand just dusty.

不喜欢: Nos dieron la peor parcela, sin sombra, suelo de tierra, sin barrer los pinchos de los pinos, lejos de los lavabos, avisando que ibamos con bebe de 1año y una niña de 8, nos han meado perros en la tienda, hay cagadas en parcelas vacias, yo he tenido perro y no lo he paseado nunca por dentro del camping y menos lo he dejado meterse en parcelas ajenas.

From the north, on the A7 take Exit 41 towards Sant Carles de la Ràpita and continue in this direction on the N340. At the 1072 km marker, take exit signposted Sant Carles de la Ràpita and turn right at the roundabout onto Calle Sant/Sidre. From the south, on the A7 take Exit 43 onto the N340 and up to the km-marker 1065. Come off at Sant Carles de la Ràpita. The campsite is on the right after approximately 2km.

What a happy amount of things there are to see and do around Camping Alfacs. First up, it's at the edge of the UNESCO Biosphere Ebro Delta Reserve/Terres de l’Ebre, a birdwatching haven where flutterers can spy herons, storks, ducks of all sorts and prettily pink flamingos... Endless sandy beaches and small fishing villages such as Poblenou del Delta or La Cava are within a short distance, and kayaking, surfing, paddling and sailing are available nearby. (Even better, discounted rates for these last are available for Camping Alfacs guests.) The fishing port of Sant Carles de la Rápita is a kilometre and a half from base and much visited in the area for its seafood restaurants, shellfish and prawns, two big marinas, beach and market. The village part of the municipality of Alcanar, another fishing locale, would also be on your list (where you should certainly sample more prawns as well as the seafood casserole). Other attractions in the area are the ancient Moleta del Remei settlement, the church Ermita de la Mare de Déu del Remei, and hunting down the best spots for views of the sea and the region's mandarin and orange groves. Taking to one/some of the many splendidly scenic cycling trails to discover the region's rice crops or hiking in the nearby hills are also happy highlights nearby.
