Sol de Calpe Boreal

Calpe has two splendid sandy beaches, one within 15 minutes’ walk and the other around 20, both with sun lounger and umbrella rental, watersports centres for waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and diving, plus piles of space to play and sheltered waters to splash in. Two reserves lie within easy reach of Sol de Calpe Boreal too: Peñón de Ifach, right on the coast and crossed by a hiking route around and up Ifac rock, and the Ses Salines Natural Park, centred around a big saltwater lagoon that’s home to flocks of of flamingos and oodles of other feathered critters that come seasonally here to settle. For adventurous types, a trip to the local activity centre in Calpe is highly recommended, for it organises excursions to several of the area’s topping outdoor attractions like Mount Toix for sea canoeing and caving and Ponoig where intrepid sorts can scale the via ferrata. Another tiptop family spot a short drive from Calpe is the vibey seaside settlement of Benidorm, for Terra Mítica theme park and its attractions and shows across five themed areas; Aqua Natura waterpark’s wave pool, waterslides and cute sea lion shows; and neighbouring Terra Natura, home a menagerie that includes elephants, monkeys and birds of prey.
