Non-electric hardstanding campervan or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked: A fantastic woodland setting with excellent views across The Valley. Plenty of birds to watch in the woods. Our host was very helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming. Although in a rustic setting the facilities were good. We loved the tranquil setting.

Non-electric forest floor tent pitch (large)

Liked: • All of the staff were so incredibly welcoming. They were so accommodating to our 16 month old little boy which was reassuring as it was our first time he had ever been camping. • The facilities were amazing and definitely made me feel at ease knowing there was a microwave etc that I can use to heat his food up quickly. • The walks are absolutely stunning surrounding the campsite. • There is local pub, supermarkets and takeaways nearby which was definitely useful as you always forget something when you go camping. • Facilities were clean. • Wood for a campfire was available to purchase from site which was amazing as they delivered it directly to your pitch. • Forest floor pitches meant the tent didn’t get muddy! Always a bonus!

Disliked: Absolutely nothing!

Non-electric hardstanding campervan pitch

Liked: What a fabulous little gem! It reminded me of camping as a child, campfires, chatting, friendly atmosphere, everyone joining in. A great set up and immaculately looked after, everything you could need for a real camping experience, we will definitely return. Its a 10 min walk downhill to the village with shops/pub/butchers etc, but set in woodland so you feel remote whilst there. Very friendly owners, a great find.

Local attractions

Walks in these surrounds are fab, but they're not the only way to get out and about. Those who like to take it all in on two wheels may like to mount their mountain bikes for the short (but steep) ride to Rossendale Moor to get their kicks on the quarry trails. Rossendale (10 minutes' drive) is also the place for climbing walls, laser tag and a roller rink at the Adrenaline Centre. Something a little less hair raising? Take it easy on the East Lancashire Railway, which rides through Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall (both 10 minutes' drive) as it puffs its way around the Irwell Valley. Check out their schedule for details of special journeys including ale rail, dino-themed days, photography courses and the like. More of an appetite for all things that move? Take in buses, trams and a vintage fire engine at Bury Transport Museum (20 minutes) – as a bonus, it's completely free to visit. If you need a reminder of urban life, flag down a bus in the village for the 40-minute journey to Manchester’s museums, shops and theatres. Rather stick to the rural stuff, ta? Meet the menagerie at Cronkshaw Fold Farm (15 minutes' drive) or Animal Quackers (20 minutes), or saddle up for a day out on horseback from the riding centre in Holcombe (15 minutes).
