Disliked: Being a solo motorcycle camper I thought the price was a little high. However I did enjoy my stay regardless.

Sparrowhawk non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Edale and the camp site are both lovely places to stay. The camp site was well kept, great location for walks and views, great options for eating on site and locally. All staff were super helpful, friendly and polite. Renting a camp fire was a lovely bonus for the colder evenings. Would definitely stay here again. I was amazing with how good the wifi was - could steam live tv from my tent.

Disliked: Limited room to store belongs while showering, a shelf/wall mounted basket would be ideal for keeping clothes and other items dry while showering

Grouse non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We loved EVERYTHING ❤️ I travelled with my Mum, the campsite was really easy to find. Check in was quick and easy, we were directed to the field and had the freedom to choose where to pitch. Plenty of toilets and showers in the block which were basic and clean. Loved the cafe and little shop and especially liked that items such as books, magnets, postcards etc where all by local artists/writers, it was nice to have everything we needed on the camp and leave the car parked all weekend. We ordered a pizza on pizza night which was freshly made on site and was one of the best pizzas we have had 🤤. All the staff were very friendly and helpful (thank you to the young man that helped me amend my booking when my mum decided to join me last minute). The campsite grounds were very clean and tidy. It was a fairly busy weekend but it wasn’t noisy as all. The views of Mam Tor across to Loose Hill were perfect 😍 Perfect location, so many walks to access straight from the campground. Great value for money. I am already looking at booking my next trip. Thank you to all the staff, you all do a great job ☺️

Sparrowhawk non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Site location and on-site facilities for food & shopping and staff friendliness. Campsite clean and well managed.

Disliked: No designated camping zones or areas allowing groups to camp on top of you. No quiet camp zones away from large noisy groups. No parking next to tent pitches as this was a key feature to original booking being made

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Location is perfect. Onsite cafe is awsome food. Close electric hook up.

Disliked: Being right next to some live in staff vans looking right at you. Toilets and showers are very basic, like a Sunday league football teams.

Local attractions

Draw a straight line from this well-placed site and you're bound to come across something that tickles your fancy. Heading west? Stop off for strolls at Ladybower Reservoir (25 minutes' drive). South? Buxton's fancy shops and theatres are on hand, as are the gorgeous grounds of Chatsworth House (40 minutes). Up for some underground explores? This site is a breezy 15-minute drive from Castleton, a village deep in the White Peak where there are caves and caverns aplenty. Bobbing up and down along underground watercourses is on the cards at Speedwell Cavern, where subterranean boat trips are up for grabs. The nearby Blue John Cavern, meanwhile, also has much to marvel at, including Waterfall Cavern and its shimmering multi-coloured dome… When you emerge bleary-eyed back into broad daylight, you’ll probably be struck by the shadow of mighty Mam Tor (10 minutes from base). Hike up this handsome hill for a three-mile circular trail that'll stretch your legs and open your eyes to some exceptional vistas – on sunny days you'll also likely have the bonus sight of daredevil paragliders circling and swooping overhead.
