Whether you’ve come to Norfolk for beachcombing or for a spot of boating on the Broads, tucking yourself away in a cosy camping or glamping pod is a sure-fire way to get some well-deserved rest after action-filled days. Keep reading to learn more about Norfolk’s pod accommodation, what there is to do locally and where you might want to consider staying.

Norfolk camping and glamping pods

Nothing quite beats the peace of a pod – there’s just something so satisfying about their wooden walls and smart use of space. Before booking, though, you might want to think more about what exactly you want inside your accommodation and the kind of site you’ll be staying on.

Camping pods are simple wooden structures where you’ll have to bring most or all of your bedding yourself – imagine a well-insulated version of a garden shed (without the spiderwebs and smell of white spirit, of course). Glamping pods, on the other hand, are at the smarter end of the spectrum, often coming with extras like kitchenettes, an ensuite bathroom and proper beds to make your stay more comfortable.

Where to book pods in Norfolk?

We’ve got pods in many of Norfolk’s prettiest pockets, so you won’t struggle to get out to scenic spots during your time away. Settle down for a stay near north Norfolk’s sandy beaches, find a spot within easy reach of The Broads National Park for waterways galore, base yourself near the medieval city of Norwich to explore its castle and cathedral or head south towards the Suffolk border and Thetford Forest Park for woodland wanders.

Both family-friendly and adults-only pod sites are available in Norfolk, so there’ll be something for you whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple or with little ones in tow.

What could you do?

Norfolk pod holidays open up all sorts of possible holidays. We’ve gathered tips from our travel team to inspire you with a few of our favourites.

The boating bonanza

Home to The Broads National Park, Britain’s largest wetland, Norfolk has over 100 miles of navigable inland waterways to explore, most of which became open to river traffic following an intense period of peat-cutting during the Middle Ages.

With so many corners of the countryside accessible by boat including reedbeds, Roman forts and remote bird reserves like Berney Arms – there’s plenty of scope for bringing your canoe, kayak or paddleboard along on holiday. Staying in a pod means there’ll be plenty of outdoor space to securely store your craft too, as well as all the kit that goes with it.

The coastal caper

What could be better than chartering a fishing boat and sailing out to catch your own supper? Cooking said supper over an outdoor firepit and having a proper kitchen to debone, gut and garnish it in, that’s what. A good number of our pods in Norfolk come with precisely those features. And if fishing’s not your thing, you could sun yourself on sandy beaches, try a new sport like windsurfing or take the kids rockpooling along the coast between Cromer and Sheringham – and again, your pod’s outdoor space will mean you can keep your nets, buckets and beach shoes close by.

Biking in the Brecks

Sitting in central East Anglia and straddling the border between Norfolk and Suffolk, the Brecks is a flat low-lying area covered by forests, heaths and farmland – just the spot for scenic days of easy cycle touring. Staying in a pod means extra room for you and your bikes and a good night’s sleep sheltered from the elements to prepare you for your big day ahead, plus the prospect of coming home to a shower, a barbecue and night of stargazing on the terrace.
