  • Peaceful and multi award-winning family park with spectacular views
  • A 10-minute walk to Robin Hoods Bay and 10 minutes' drive to Whitby
  • Spotless amenities, disabled facilities, adventure play and tennis
You'll be right on target if you opt for an excursion to Middlewood Farm Holiday Park close to North Yorkshire's Robin Hoods Bay: shoot along here for a multi award-winning setting, pristine amenities and an arty, laidback vibe among the North York Moors. If you crave closeness to the coast, this small family-friendly park has it too, as it's an easy 10-minute amble (through site meadows and a nature reserve) to the spectacular setting of Robin Hoods Bay, and a quick drive to other famed Yorkshire coast highlights like Whitby and Scarborough. Wildlife watchers and walkers are well sorted as well, with the hikes of the Cleveland Way close by and the North York Moors National Park surrounding the park in all directions. And as it's Yorkshire? Scenic views from and around this pretty park come as standard. After all your days out, you'll surely be chuffed to retreat back to Middlewood's spotless amenities, which include two modern washrooms, a disabled washroom, a baby changing room, a bath and two undercover washing-up areas. Calor Gas and Campingaz exchange is available from reception. Other facilities include an adventure play area with safety surface (in case the grownups get too adventurous), bike hire and tennis. A takeaway food van dishes up breakfasts and dinners in high season; at other times, stroll along to the local pub and shop, five minutes' walk away in the local village of Fylingthorpe.

Local attractions

Middlewood is fably set for coast and countryside as well as days hiking – or biking – over the Yorkshire moors. Bike hire is available on site. The closest beach is that of Robin Hoods Bay, a 10-minute walk through peaceful countryside. You can access the 110-mile Cleveland Way from here if you're after a more strenuous time (stride to Boggle Hole or Maw Wyke), or stay around the bay to cast off from the sea wall or bay marks to land fish of up to 20lb. Robin Hoods is also the end point for the Coast to Coast Walk if you care to tramp part of its 192-mile path to Cumbria. Famed and vampirish Whitby five miles or about 10 minutes' drive away is a must-see for its abbey; HMS Endeavour; and, twice a year, the hordes of pale-faced and elaborately-booted types swooping into town for the Whitby Goth Weekend. (Which is also rather fab if you can make it). Another famed and must-see Yorkshire seaside spot is Scarborough half an hour's drive south, for fish and chips, amusements, Scarborough Castle and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Filey and Bridlington are also very much worth a look, as is a journey inland to steam along on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
