With its handful of historic houses, the village of Appletreewick is easy on the eye for sure, but it’s not really the architecture that tourists totter here for. It’s the sublime scenery surrounding the settlement, which is plonked on the side of a hill above the River Wharfe and spectacular Yorkshire Dales fells.
