  • Small site in the middle of the Great Yorkshire Forest
  • Half an hour's drive from Scarborough and 40 minutes from Whitby
  • Easy access to Dalby Forest's walking and mountain biking trails
South Moor Farm is a small livestock farm in the middle of Dalby Forest, a large wooded area on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. This is a very relaxed and rural spot with just a handful of pitches on well-maintained grass plots with access to basic amenities including a water tap, waste recycling and a chemical waste disposal point (available for green chemicals only). There are no toilets or showers on site, so please bring your own facilities. The pitches are located in a paddock between the owners' house and a barn, within easy cycling or walking distance of many local rights of way. A couple of pubs can be reached within about a 10-minute drive, and larger towns like Scarborough are half an hour away if you fancy a night out or need to stock up on essentials or camping equipment. Dogs are allowed at this family-friendly site, but please keep them on a lead at all times around the farm.

  • Minimum spacing of 3 metres between pitches.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
  • The first 5 kWh of electricity per day are free, anything after this will be charged at £0.25 per kWh. From 01/03/2022 there is a £10 charge for visiting and parking in Dalby Forest. There is no charge if you do not use the car parks and just travel through the forest and exit within 20 minutes.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: lovely setting in the middle of dalby. Set on the top of a hill looking over the forest. Warm welcome from the owners(and the chickens). There had been a lot of rain so the ground was a bit soft but Bob instructed how to park in case he had to pull us out

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: there was a nice warm welcome at the front dress and was given a lot of information about the park and it was nice and quiet the shower and toilets unit were clean and warm

Disliked: think the ground needed better drainage and also a concrete walkway thought the grass was needed to the toilets

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Salt of the earth hosts, It’s a proper working farm with everything that goes with that and we loved it. There was a cockerel and chucks and mud because the weather has been atrocious that didn’t bother us because it’s a farm and this was perfect for us. Midweek we were the only ones there. We would love to wild camp in lay-by etc but doesn’t feel safe anymore. We feel this is safe wild camping.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: What a great little site in the perfect place for cycling, walking etc, and the owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful if they tried. If you want a proper off grid campsite, you won't get any better in my opinion. If you want toilet and shower, then this wouldn't be for you, but if you are self-sufficient, I would highly recommend.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Proper Yorkshire welcome, friendly and straight talking. As a mountain biker it's location, location, location for this site. Out of winter season it will be great to get parked on the grass there's loads of space. It's a great view too. Very private and secure, could not have been more comfortable leaving my wife alone on site while I went out on bike.

Disliked: As I've not had chickens of my own for 5 years I've got un-used to the cockrel dawn chorus 😄. ...not a complaint, if you don't like the countryside stay in the city

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Services, ie, electric and water right there in the field by the van

Disliked: Asked by text and e-Mail for Wi-Fi password and was ignored so could not watch tv with children

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sorry we do not monitor texts and emails 24/7. We do not advertise that WiFi is available. The motorhome was parked 50 metres from house, this customer could have called at the house instead of texting and emailing. WiFi is available in parts of the field but it is patchy.

Just a lovely peaceful haven on the edge of the fabulous Dalby Forest
