  • Adults-only log cabins in private woodland two miles from Whitby
  • A 15-minute drive to Robin Hood's Bay; 20 mins to heritage railway
  • Ensuite lodges with deck, woodburner and kitchen facilities
Now here’s a splendid spot for those who want to experience the buzz of Whitby but also fancy having a peaceful corner of the North York Moors National Park to themselves… The adults-only lodges at Whitby Log Cabins are tucked away in private woodland two miles away from Whitby, so you can mix up seaside time and rural relaxing as you wish. Each of the one-bedroom log cabins here is in its own quiet corner, with a private outlook and not overlooked by anyone else. That means you can hide out here for as long as you like, perhaps enjoying a peaceful drink while sitting out on your deck, keeping warm by your firepit or cosying up inside by the log burner. Each lodge also has its own ensuite bathroom and cooking and dining facilities so you’ll be completely self contained. Please note that all the cabins are non-smoking. And when you do want to head out to seek some company? The lodges are just a few minutes’ walk from the Cinder Track, a footpath that leads directly to Whitby for its beach, abbey, pubs, shops and winding seaside streets. Head in the other direction and you’ll eventually get to gorgeous Robin Hood’s Bay. It’s also handy to note that a pub and a couple of supermarkets are closer at just a few minutes’ walk away. Please note that the approach to the site is via a single-track road, so bear this in mind if you are not used to reversing. Unfortunately, Whitby Log Cabins is unable to accept pets.

Woodland 1 bedroom cabin

Liked: We couldn't fault our stay at the Lodges! From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome. The Lodge was lovely and as described. We had everything we needed, there was also a detailed book giving ideas where to eat and walk etc. We went to Whitby, Sandsend and did some fabulous walks. We also went further to Dalby Forest which is well worth a trip. Just to note - we had no trouble getting a WiFi signal!

Disliked: There wasn't anything we disliked

Local attractions

Whitby (10 minutes’ drive/ an hour’s walk) has to be the place to start, of course – in fact, you’ll probably want to take several trips down here to get round everything. The 199 Steps and the atmospheric Whitby Abbey will no doubt be top of the list, along with a blustery walk on the beach. Beyond that, there’s a gin distillery, a traditional smokehouse, the Captain Cook Museum, Dracula walks… You’ll also want to leave some time to get down to Robin Hood’s Bay (15 minutes’ drive) to see one of the loveliest beaches in all of northern England. And maybe you’ll also be keen to explore one of the walking trails in the North York Moors National Park, such as Falling Foss waterfall (10 minutes) or the Hole of Horcum (20 minutes)? Walking isn’t the only way to explore the national park though. There’s also the option of taking a steam-powered ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Goathland station (20 minutes). Might it look familiar? It had a starring role as Hogsmeade station in the first Harry Potter film…
