Oro Verde is a quite rural site located in an olive grove about four miles from the little town of Tabernas. Access to the site is level and easy from the N340. This area of southern Spain enjoy most hours of sunshine in Europe and has a very dry climate even in winter. It is a very peaceful site where you can sit by the pool and look at the views or explore the nearby mountain ranges of Los Filabros and Alhamillas, abundant in wildlife and ideal for birdwatching. There is a heated facilities block, washing machine and laundry facilities, an unheated swimming pool, and communal barbecue.

Direcciones de ruta

Coming from west, on the N340, go through Tabernas and continue up to the Calatrava Hotel on your right. Turn right immediately past the hotel signposted Turrillas and turn right again. The site is 300 yards on your left. Coming from east, approximately 6km past Sorbas, pass the international racing circuit and at the Oro Verde petrol station turn left onto Turrillas road and right again. The site is 300 yards on the left.

Lugares de interés

The famous studios where the spaghetti westerns were filmed in the 60s are only a short drive away and serve as great visitor attractions with live entertainment, cactus gardens, a wonderful zoo and a water park. The market town of Tabernas is about three miles and has a weekly market, an ancient church and castle. The city of Almeria is about 15 miles and is worth a visit. Enjoy walking, cycling and exploring the unique landscape of the desert, very hot in summer and mid in winter, although it can get chilly at nights. The nearest coast is just 16 miles away, with quiet clean beaches of Retamar and a little further along the Cabo de Gata National Park where you can watch huge flocks of flamingos and other exotic wading birds. Also, Oro Verde Camping is surrounded by natural reserves that offer a great opportunity for bird watching, experiencing the wildlife and plant life of the mountains. Just along the road from the site is the international racing circuit open all year round.
